At St.Thomas’, we have been fortunate enough to have been able to transform a patch of onsite woodland area into a beautiful outdoor learning space, complete with pathways, an outdoor classroom and a firepit.
St.Thomas’ woodland area can be entered by both the pathway into school and from the school field and is named ‘Willows Woods’ as it is decorated with bespoke hand carved wooden statues of characters from ‘The Wind in the Willows’ aligning the path leading to the outdoor classroom circle.
Reception, Year 3 and Year 6 will be taking part in fun, exciting and adventurous lessons with our Forest School teacher Miss McCarney. During these sessions, the children learn about the nature around them and how to recognise and care for it. Along with building shelters, tool making and many more exciting activities.
