Mrs Davidson is a long-standing teacher at St. Thomas’ and is delighted to be our History subject leader.
She is passionate about the subject and believes all children can achieve no matter their academic ability.
She has a curiosity for times past, present and future and longs to instil this passion in the children.
Mrs Davidson loves the gore of the Egyptians, the vicious Vikings and the ruthless, rampaging Romans.
Her enthusiasm and desire brings History to life through music, performance and the arts.
At St. Thomas’, our intention is to provide our children with an exciting and relevant History curriculum, in order to develop an understanding of the children’s own place in History and their links with the past.
Through the curriculum, we aim to develop a love of History and to inspire a thirst and desire for knowledge.
We will build on their knowledge and skills taught in foundation stage and KS1 through real life experiences and a wide range of quality resources, such as expert visitors, educational visits and use of new technologies including augmented reality and green screen.
In KS2 their Historical understanding will be further developed through the specific teaching of timeline chronology and specialised skills from recognising and categorising features of eras to justifying and evaluating.
Throughout school, children will become increasingly confident in using subject-specific vocabulary, Historical terms and associated language.
The breadth of the Historical teaching and experiences at St. Thomas’ will provide the children with the foundation for their future success.
