Sports Week

This year’s Sports Week will take place on the week beginning 13th June 2016. We always encourage parents to come along to their child’s activities to cheer them and the whole class on.

Please click on the link to see the timetable of activities. Some of the activities may change due to weather conditions, however the times that they begin will stay the same throughout.

**Also note that photographs cannot be take during the events but if you would like to take an individual photo of your child before or after then this is permitted.

Swimming and Water Safety

All schools must provide swimming instruction either in key stage 1 or key stage 2.

In particular, pupils should be taught to:

  • swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations

At St. Thomas’ our children go swimming in Year 3 at Blackburn Leisure Centre.

Sports Star

Each week a child is nominated by a member of staff for something they have done either in a PE lesson, after school activity or competition. This is then celebrated in Friday’s Golden Assembly.
