At St. Thomas’ we seek to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, intellectual and social development of pupils based on the Christian values with God being at the heart of all we do. We do this by using the Imaginor document ‘Roots and Fruits’ which focuses on 12 Christian values over a two year cycle.
Worship at St.Thomas’ is an integral part of school life, with the children partaking in Key Stage worship and class worship throughout the week. Worship forms a very special part of daily life in school, whether we gather together as a whole school family or spend time together in our classes or Key Stages. It is a time to learn from Bible stories and events, share an understanding of God’s love and relate the message and its values to our everyday lives. It is also a time for prayer and reflection and an opportunity to refer to current world-wide events or issues which may, or may not, affect our lives. Worship is also a time of praise and music naturally enhances this. Music has a strong tradition at St. Thomas’ with us being a Gold Arts Mark school and Platinum Sing Up school.
Every Friday we hold a ‘Golden Friday Worship’. Here we celebrate as a whole school! At the beginning of a new term Father Martin or Mr. Cannon are invited into school to introduce the new half term value. Classes are also chosen to lead worship relating to our half termly value, seasonal event or religious festival.
